# Linkcase > Full documentation content for Linkcase --- # Linkcase Docs ## Help Center ### Overview **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/overview Digital Products for Shopify gives you the tools to sell non-physical or digital goods through your Shopify store and deliver them to your customers. The app works by linking a Shopify product/variant to what we call a Digital Attachment in the app. Attachments represent one or more files that are delivered to your customers when they purchase the product on your storefront. You can fully customize the [delivery notifications](/customizing-delivery-notifications) (email or SMS) using the same [liquid template language](https://shopify.dev/docs/themes/liquid/reference) used for Shopify themes. By default customers are able to download their Digital Product directly from the [Shopify order status page](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/orders/status-tracking/order-status-overview), however this can be changed to instead link to a [download page](/download-page) that serves information about the files they’ve purchased and buttons to download those files if available (see [download restrictions and access controls](/download-restrictions---access-controls)). Both [delivery options](/attachment-and-delivery-settings) can be full customized from within the app and examples of both and the download page are below. **Direct Download from Order Status Page** **Download Page Link** **Order Limits/Restrictions** If you have restrictions for customers such as limits of number of times an attachment can be downloaded or length of time after purchase it can be downloaded, these options can be configured on the attachment edit page in the app. A related and more advanced feature is access controls for downloads, such as requiring the customer to enter a valid access code or license key to be able to download the file. These codes/keys can be automatically generated for you or you can provide a list in the attachment configuration area in the app. **Search Orders and Track Downloads** Finally, you can browse/filter/search orders for an attachment on the orders page within the app attachment area, or keep track of downloads for the attachment in-app on the downloads page for the attachment. That covers the core features of the app. Check out the [Getting Started](/getting-started) guide for a quick walk through of setting up an attachment. If you have any more questions feel free to [contact us](mailto:digital.products@kablecommerce.com) or browse this help center. --- ### Linkcase is shutting down **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/linkcase-is-shutting-down Linkcase will permanently shut down on **June 30, 2026**. After that date, **all access to the app and app data will be removed**. This includes access to Linkcase-managed download experiences such as **Directly from order status / thank-you page after purchase**, any **dedicated download page**, and customer access points like the storefront customer page and customer account **Full page** view. After June 30, 2026, you will no longer be able to open the app, use Linkcase download pages, or retrieve files from Linkcase. If you need copies of your digital product files, download them before the shutdown date. ## What you should do before June 30, 2026 If you do not already have backups of the files you uploaded to Linkcase, download and store them now. This is especially important for any files currently delivered to customers through Linkcase download pages, the Shopify order status / thank-you page flow, or the customer account **Full page** experience. If your customers currently receive downloads through Linkcase, plan to replace that experience before shutdown. This includes delivery methods labeled **Directly from order status / thank-you page after purchase**, **Use a dedicated download page separate from the order status / thank-you page**, and **Customer page on your storefront**. Linkcase-generated product and order metadata is already stored on the related products and orders in your Shopify admin. Review the affected products and orders in Shopify so you understand what information remains available there after the app is removed. If you need another digital delivery solution, browse alternatives in the Shopify App Store at [apps.shopify.com](https://apps.shopify.com/). ## About your files and data ### Digital product files Any digital product files you want to keep must be downloaded before the shutdown date if you do not already have your own backups. ### Product and order metadata All product and order metadata that Linkcase generates is already included as metadata on the related products and orders in your Shopify dashboard. This means the Shopify-side metadata created by Linkcase is already attached to your Shopify products and Shopify orders. Review it in your Shopify admin before shutdown so you know what information you want to keep using in your store workflows. ## What will stop working after shutdown - Access to the Linkcase app - Download delivery through the Shopify order status / thank-you page - Any dedicated Linkcase download page - Any storefront customer page powered by Linkcase - The customer account **Full page** download view ## Finding an alternative If you need a replacement after Linkcase shuts down, search the Shopify App Store for digital delivery alternatives at [apps.shopify.com](https://apps.shopify.com/). When comparing alternatives, make sure the new app supports the delivery method you want to keep using, such as post-purchase downloads, a dedicated download page, or a customer account download experience. ## Frequently asked questions Linkcase shuts down on **June 30, 2026**. No. After June 30, 2026, all access to the app and app data will be removed. Yes. If you do not already have backups of your digital product files, download them before June 30, 2026. The product and order metadata Linkcase generates is already included on the related products and orders in your Shopify dashboard. You can review alternatives in the Shopify App Store at [apps.shopify.com](https://apps.shopify.com/). --- ### Getting Started **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/getting-started Digital Products for Shopify gives you the tools to sell non-physical or digital goods through your Shopify store and deliver them to your customers. You can install the app from the [Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/digital-products). If you’re looking for an overview of how the app works with your store and your customers, check out this [overview page](/overview). After you have the app installed, your first step is to create an attachment. Attachments in the app represent one or more files that are delivered to your customers when they purchase something on your store. The app knows which product and variant to assign the attachment to by linking the attachment to a Shopify Product and Variant. If you don’t already have a product created in your Shopify store for the attachment, go ahead and do that first. After you hit the save button, you can add one or more files to this attachment, set download rules and restrictions, configure or customize delivery notifications (email and SMS), and more. The first thing to do to set up a working product attachment, is to add your file(s) to this attachment: just click the add file or drag one into the box. You can set details about the file, such as the label used when displaying it to the customer and the file name used when they download it. Don't forget to enable your attachment so the app knows to listen for order activity on it: hit the Enable Attachment button at the top of the page. That’s it! You can now do a test purchase on your store of this file, and you’ll receive an email or SMS notification with download instructions. Some other features to configure your attachments that you may want to explore next are: - [Customize your delivery notifications](/customizing-delivery-notifications) - [Customize your download page](/download-page) - [Download restrictions](/download-restrictions---access-controls) - [Access code or license keys](/download-restrictions---access-controls) --- ### Set up your Shopify checkout extensions **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/set-up-your-shopify-checkout-extensions Shopify has opened up the ability for apps to extend the checkout and customer pages through "extension" widgets. This is a powerful framework that gives you the ability to control where apps integrate better and apps a better toolkit to integrate safely. In some cases when this is enabled on your store the existing integration for the app into your checkout or customer pages may not work anymore so you may notice the app not working after the upgrade. This is the case with the Linkcase checkout thank you page integration. In this guide we'll walk through how to enable the checkout thank you page and the customer order status page Linkcase extensions on your store. ## Checkout thank-you / order status page This is the page your customers see immediately after they purchase your item, click the link in their order confirmation email, or when they log into their customer account and go to that order. The Linkcase integration on this page will look different depending on the type of digital attachment you have but in general it's a list of items with some information for the customer and a download or view button. The content of this page can be customized under Settings -> Order status page in the Linkcase app. ### Step 1: Open your theme editor in your Shopify dashboard under Sales channels -> Online store -> Customize ### Step 2: Go to the "Checkout and new customer accounts" section in the theme: ### Step 3: Open the "Thank you" page, you'll also want to do the following steps on the "Order status" page ### Step 4: Add the app block by going to the "Sections" section on the top left, then hit the "Add app block" button and choose the Linkcase "Customer download details" block. That's it! You can configure the exact placement of this block in the theme editor and the content of the block in the Linkcase app under Settings -> Order status page. Please reach out if you have any quesitons! --- ### Download Page **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/download-page The download page is where customers are directed to, through buttons or links in the delivery notifications and order status page, that contains the list of files, information about the files, download instructions, access code inputs, and more. The link the customer receives to this page is unique to their order: it’s the customer's place to go to access their files. ## Customizing the Download Page If you’re on the Basic plan, you can configure the background image used on this page as well as other basic settings. If you’re on the Professional or Advanced plans, you have access to fully customize the download page template. The download page template is HTML, and it uses the same [liquid templating language](https://shopify.dev/docs/themes/liquid/reference) that Shopify themes use. The available liquid variables are: ### Top level objects and variables {{ shop }} {{ order }} {{ package_items }} {{ download_page_url }} {{ access_keys_enabled }} ### Shop {{ shop.shopify_domain }} {{ shop.name }} {{ shop.email }} {{ shop.customer_email }} {{ shop.custom_domain }} ### Order {{ order.shopify_order_id }} {{ order.order_name }} {{ order.first_name }} {{ order.last_name }} {{ order.email }} {{ order.phone }} ### Package Item {{ item.name }} {{ item.image_url }} {{ item.total_size }} {{ item.description }} {{ item.files }} ### File {{ file.label }} {{ file.file_size }} {{ file.download_duration_limit_enabled }} {{ file.download_duration_limit_reached }} {{ file.time_remaining }} {{ file.seconds_remaining }} {{ file.download_limit_enabled }} {{ file.download_limit_reached }} {{ file.downloads_remaining }} {{ file.download_url }} --- ### Attachment and Delivery Settings **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/attachment-and-delivery-settings Delivery Settings consist of how you would like your customers to be notified and receive their Digital Product after purchase. Delivery options can consist of downloading from the order status page, a link to the [download page](/download-page) along with instructions on how to receive their download, and/or even access codes/license keys if [this feature](/download-restrictions---access-controls) is enabled. You can customize these settings from within the application by scrolling to the bottom of the "Edit Attachment" page, and click edit. From the following page, you can configure your notifications to be sent either immediately when the order is marked as paid, later when the order is marked as fulfilled, or at the time when you manually mark as fulfilled depending on your workflow preferences. By default, we send it immediately, and mark the order as fulfilled when it is delivered. You can also choose to use the order status page after a completed purchase as your only download page. This can be customized using "Order Status page", or it can have a "Download" button that leads to a dedicated download page that can also be customized. **Order Status** If you choose to use "Directly from order status / thank-you page" after purchase, your customers will see a default page, but this can be customized as mentioned above. This allows your customers to download their files directly from this page without having to wait for a link in their email or go to a new browser window. If you choose to have a dedicated download page, when your customer's purchase is complete and followed by their order status page, they will be led to the dedicated [download page](/download-page) generated by Kable Digital Products if you enable the "show link to download page on order status page" option. If not, they will have to wait for the link to the download page in their email. --- ### Pricing & Billing **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/pricing---billing Your current subscription can be viewed and managed by following the Settings -> Subscription button on the top bar from the main attachment listing page when you first open the app. Here you can cancel or modify your subscription. ## Plans We have two plan options: #### **Starter plan** This plan has no base monthly charge; you'll be charged $0.25 for each order containing a digital product set up through the app, as well as $0.25 for each GB of file download or streaming requests. Digital attachments, such as voucher codes, licence keys, URLs to external files or sites, etc. are not charged the download/streaming fee. There is no limit to the number of products you can set up or sales you can make. It provides access to full customizations for email, SMS, and download page templates, as well as access to the order status page integration and to the access codes/license keys access controls feature. This plan does not support files larger than 5GB each. #### **Premium plan** This plan has a base monthly charge of $24 per month, you'll be charged $0.12 for each order containing a digital product set up through the app, as well as $0.12 for each GB of file download or streaming requests. This plan **does** support files larger than 5GB each. #### **Custom plan** Are you a high volume shop, require many digital attachments, or need other custom requirements? [Contact us](mailto:digital.products@kablecommerce.com) to talk about custom solutions. ## Bandwidth Usage Fees All plans have a small fee for each download or streaming request for files that we host for you. This fee is in place to cover our costs; we do not charge this fee for files hosted at external URLs or non-file digital attachments. The download and streaming fee is only applied to the first download from the file for a customer's order per day. Multiple download attempts within the same day are not counted towards this fee. Your bandwidth usage is calculated using the size of the file multiplied by the number of download or streaming requests for that file. For example, if you have a 500 MB file and it's downloaded 10 times, at $0.25 per GB fee the total amount of fees would be $1.25. ## Order Fees All plans have a fee for each order that contains a digital product set up through the app. This fee is applied no matter what type of digital attachment is on the product. --- ### Preview your digital product customer experience **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/preview-your-digital-product-customer-experience We understand that the experience your customer will have while purchasing and accessing your digital products is one of the most important pieces to a successful business for you. The app gives you a way to preview the email and SMS notification the customer will receive, the post-purchase thank-you page block that will contain their files or attachment instructions, and the storefront product page. ### Notifications and order status page The email/SMS notifications, as well as the post-purchase thank-you page block can be previewed under the top right Preview button when viewing the product in the app. ### Storefront product page The storefront product page, the page your customer uses to purchase the items, can be easily access for both published and draft products using the top right Attachment options -> View on storefront button. That's it! Reach out if you have any questions. --- ### Customer Account Download Page **URL:** https://docs.linkcase.com/customer-account-download-page To access the app's Settings page, first open the Linkcase app from your Shopify admin dashboard by clicking 'Apps' in the left sidebar, then selecting 'Linkcase' from your installed apps list. To access the Shopify theme code editor, go to your Shopify admin dashboard, click on 'Online Store' in the left sidebar, then click 'Themes'. Next, click the 'Actions' button for your current theme and select 'Edit code' from the dropdown menu. **Prerequisite: Enable Customer Accounts**: Before setting up the Customer Account Download Page, you must enable customer accounts on your Shopify store. To do this, go to your Shopify admin dashboard, click on Settings, then Checkout, and set customer accounts to required. Save your changes before proceeding. Customer Account Download Pages give you an added layer of security for your downloads. They make your downloads only accessible to customers who have set up an account for your store and who use their account to access and authenticate their downloads. Customer accounts are a Shopify feature that gives customers a password protected way to access their information, order information, and current order status. More information on customer accounts can be found on [Shopify's help page here.](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/customers/customer-accounts#set-your-customer-account-preferences) To enable and set up the Customer Account Download Page, you're going to go to the "Settings" page from inside the app, and make sure you're on the "Order & fulfillment" tab. On that page, you'll see the options on how to deliver customers their downloads, and you'll select the "Customer page on your storefront (requires customer accounts)". Once selected, you can click save, and head to the next step to set up this delivery method. As you can see from the option to enable Customer Account Download Pages, this feature only works if you have customer accounts enabled on your store. To make sure this works as intended, you have to make them a required feature for your Shopify store. To do that, go to the "Settings" page of your Shopify store and click on "Checkout". There, you'll see the option to require customer accounts which you'll want to enable and save. Now, when a customer makes a purchase from your store, they'll need to set up an account in order to have access to their downloads. You'll also need to make sure your customers have quick access to their downloads from their store accounts. You're going to add a button to the order summary page that they can access anytime from their customer account that gives them access to their downloads This step is advanced and requires some knowledge of Shopify theme customization. If you require any help setting it up, [please let us know, and our team will be happy to help](mailto:digital.products@kablecommerce.com). First, you need to go to the theme code editor in Shopify, and go to the "customers/order.liquid" file. In that file you're going to look for the following code. ```
